Directory Review: Elegant Directory
Site/Product Reviews May 26th, 2007Elegant Directory is a general web directory on the lines of Yahoo! or DMOZ. This means that categories are widely distributed in niches and everything from pins to planes is covered as part of some category. So you have multiple categories like Blogs, Home, Regional, Science, Sports etc. We gave these examples so that you get an idea of the variety of categories and obviously the listings within. There are webmasters who do not prefer general web directories precisely for this reason - that they do not target a niche. But designed, maintained and marketed properly, even general web directories can be successful.
Returning to Elegant Directory, this is a highly customised design with its own attrative logo and header image that immediately catches the eye. The categorty layout is also very attractive with three sub categories displayed under each category. The colors are very pleasant. An overall A for website design.
The categorisaton is very extensive and detailed. Everything from Video Games to Boating to Engineering is covered. Since their has been so much effort put in in categorising, the directory itslf becomes so much more useful to the users looking for information. After all that is the only purpose for a web sirectory - to provide relevant information to people looking for it.
The directory is priced in the exclusive range. This is something we have kept seeing across successful directories. Directories which look at providing value to its customers, be it advertisers or users, have used price to ensure that only quality sites get listed. Links are priced at $39.95 while sponsored links are priced at $79.95 per year. If you would like to add your listing to this directory, please visit this category you are interested in and click on the ‘Add a link’ link.
All in all, we rank this directory as one which is in the market for the long haul. The owners are wlling to invest time and money into the project and are not out to make a quick buck.
