Link Building Tips - The Don’ts
Marketing & Advertising, News May 19th, 2007We came across an interesting article on the link building blog regarding the five common mistakes webmasters do while SEO’ing. The remarkable part of this post was that probably 8 out of 10 webmasters commit these blunders and the ‘don’ts’ themselves are not that unreasonable.
The blog post mainly deals with five points on how not to build links. They are ‘not using the same anchor text’, ‘not having all links to the same page’, ‘not growing too fast’, ‘not linking your own sites too much’, ‘not trading links in public forums’.
These make sense when taken in conjunction with Google new found resolve to tackle link buying/selling and prevent search engine ranking manipulaion. Basically what the author tries to convey is that when the webmaster does do the ‘don’ts’, he creates a pattern that search engines can pick up on. Once that happens, the search engines may decide to discount the link values (with no-follow?) so that all the hard work counts for nothing.
Let us know your views on what are the best ways to build links and rocket up the SERPS.

I am trying to build better links to our PR 6 blog and found this article very interesting as we have done some of the do nots. OOPS! I hope that I do not damage my PR in the next go around.
