In order to reduce the time and effort required to design a new site, webmasters choose to opt for off-the-shelf content management systems. Some of the open source content management softwares or CMS in short have become very popular owing to their being free, ease of use, flexibility and availability of community support. Examples of such CMS are Wordpress, Joomla, Nucleus, Drupal and hundreds of others.

When you setup your site based on these software, you may want the look and feel of the site to be different from other sites using the same software. This can be achieved using templates or skins.

For example, if you are using the Joomla CMS, you may want to create a template for the same. Based on the Joomla API this tremplate must be created. Similar rules will apply for Wordpress templates and BB skins too. To make your life easier such templates are also available ready made. An excellent example of one such package is the one marketed by ClubTVK. This includes nearly 50 Joomla templates bundled with instructions on how to use them. At a price of $45.99, it actually works out to less than a dollar per template. This package also includes an ebook that provides step by step instrution on how to implement and use these templates.
