So far, we at www.myContentWebsite.com have concentrated on the different ways you can promote your website on the internet. We have looked at directories, articles, link exchanges, PPC campaigns and a myriad other ways. But these are things most webmasters do, in one way or the other. How can you market your site in a different way?

Our opinion is offline marketing could be the answer. Probably you have been doing offline marketing in one way and that is word of mouth campaigns. Beyond that there are other websites that have been very succesful advertising on the television, newspapers, magazines, billboards etc. Agreed, these are expensive ways and not every ‘information-based’ website can afford them. This is where the marketing savvy webmaster steps in. Learn to look beyond these advertising streams.

  • If your business is area specific you could distribute flyers in the place. If it is more dependent on a particular demographic, then find out the time and place where they can be found concentrated and distribute your flyers there. For example, if you have a job site, job fairs would be the perfect place to start.
  • Again for locality or even state based sites, you could consider sponsoring cultural events. These generate a lot of positive buzz for your site and are usually very inexpensive.
  • Have your site name on your visiting card. It does not cost extra and is a very good way to build reputation.
  • Buy advertising on your local cable television. These are usually scrolling text ads and very low priced.

For the first three above you will need to print the stationary before hand itself. Get a brochure designed and the expected quantity required so that you can get it ready before the occasion.

We will cover more offline marketing methods later in this blog but the drift is offline marketing of internet based companies is genuinely under-utilised. Now is the time to concentrate on it and make the most of it.
