Just who is Jim Westergren?

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you may also be interested in this person, all of 25 years old who goes by the name of Jim Westergren. Jim is a name you would come across regularly if you visit the most frequented SEO/Webmaster forums. He does not duck under aliases and you can find his screen name to be the same as his real name.

Jim’s claim to fame was the second place finish in v7n SEO contest in May, 2006. You can see the results of this contest here. With no black hat techniques used and a number of large companies in the fray a top 10 finish is in itself a matter of great achievement - finishing second and that too a close second is definitely laudable. We have looked at directories, articles, link exchanges, PPC campaigns and a myriad other ways. But these are things most webmasters do, in one way or the other. How can you market your site in a different way?

Our opinion is offline marketing could be the answer. Probably you have been doing offline marketing in one way and that is word of mouth campaigns. Beyond that there are other websites that have been very succesful advertising on the television, newspapers, magazines, billboards etc. Agreed, these are expensive ways and not every ‘information-based’ website can afford them.
