6 ways to get banned from Adsense
Marketing & Advertising, Monetize, Resources December 31st, 2006Listed below are 6 common mistakes/oversights webmasters do and have their accounts terminated.
1. Click on your own ads
The easiest way to get banned from the Adsense program. Repeatedly click on your own ads till Google bans you.
2. Ask your friends and/or visitors to click on Google ads
This is another popular way to get your account banned from Adsense. People ask their friends to help them out; all the friends do is finally cause the maximum damage.
3. Offer incentives to visitors for clicking ads
Somewhat similar to point 2 above, these webmasters offer visitors some incentive to click on Adsense ads. They could also appeal to the sentiments of the visitor by requesting them to click as this will support the site. Sure way to get your account terminated.
4. Mislead visitors
These visitors put pictures besides the ad units, thus blending the ads too well for Google’s comfort. CTR will increase and soon your account will also be closed.
5. Change the Adsense code
Contrary to popular perception, the ad code is quite easy to change - only the cost is too huge. Trying to change the ad code so that links open in new windows, the Google logo is hidden etc will upset Google.
6. Do not follow general policy guidelines
General Adsense TOS speifies the type of sites where Adsense units may NOT be placed. There are other clauses also that you could not follow like having some other contextual PPC program on the same page as Adsense. Or have pages made only for Adsense (MFA in webmaster jargon).
Appeal
We appeal to all webmasters to not follow any of the above 6 ways or in fact any step which could get you banned. Look at it this way. There are advertisers paying money to have their ads displayed and trying to sell goods. Sending them bogus traffic will finally harm you - the publisher.

I didn’t know much about CTR, but adsense on my website was also banned twice. I was unable to find the reasons but after reading this useful article, I think will be able to protect my account against all these reasons. Thanks a lot!

I’ve read your post and understood that I’m foolish. Cause I made some of these mistakes several times. Especially number 5 and 6. Shame of me.
