Google PR - Live Updates Visible
Marketing & Advertising, Resources December 30th, 2006PR is an indicator of how important a site is - at least to Google. As such, webmasters place a lot of importance to it. Large number of websites have been developed based on PR as the subject. There are sites that display the PR, there are others that try to predict your PR while others try to sell you products that can supposedly improve your PR.
Google continuously updates website PageRank but it is updated on the Google toolbar only once about three months. Websites try to crack the algorithm used to determine the PR and thus predict the future PR of the site.
Google it seems now has decided to start displaying your current PR on your webmasters help account. For example look at the screen shot below.
To see how well you are currently placed with regards to PR, go to https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools , and login to your account. Under statistics, you have an option for ‘Crawl Stats’. Bingo, there you have your current PR distribution of your site.
Also on this page you get information on which page of your site has the highest page rank!

I think this Google web tool is a good indicator for new websites to see if there are already pages with a page rank.
For existing and older sites it’s not very accurate, I have a site with a lot of PR5 and PR4 ranks but the stats telling me that almost very page has only a low PR… maybe I need to be affraid for the next update ;)

This could be because of a number of inner pages with no page rank. These would be classified as low page rank (and not unassigned page rank). For example in a site of say 1000 pages, even if 20 pages are high PR, it works out to only 2%!

This tool really tells you nothing. Like most of Google’s tools they give you a little information but nothing specific. Never enough to know if your site is doing well or not. Low PR could be anything from 0 to say 3. Nowhere do they even tell you what low PR is, or medium PR or high PR. You are left to guess that on a scale of 10 low PR would be 0 to 3. A PR of 3 in my opinion is really not to bad. It is a good start, whereas a PR of 0 on a site you have been working on sucks. Leave it to Google to never give good information about anything. I think it is a little ironic since Google is about good information but they never give any.
